Senior Electrical Engineer (Robotics & Physical AI)
Compensation: $180,000 – $250,000 Base Salary + Equity & Benefits
Company & Opportunity OverviewThe company is solving the fragmentation of modern robotics by combining a new generation of hardware with a universal Physical AI operating system, making robots as easy to build and deploy as software. Backed by major global technology leaders like LG Technology Ventures, the organization is actively shipping production-ready systems and leveraging a robust, established overseas manufacturing infrastructure. This high-impact, early senior role offers massive autonomy to step away from narrow corporate silos and directly shape hardware that ships on every unit.
CoreResponsibilities
- Power Electronics Design: Own the end-to-end design of power subsystems, including battery management (BMS), power distribution, protection circuits, and DC-DC conversion.
- Actuation & Motor Drives: Design and validate motor drive circuits for high-performance actuation, incorporating FOC, BLDC, and PMSM control topologies.
- Sensor Integration & PCB Layout: Design sensor integration circuits (IMUs, encoders, force/torque, thermal) and create schematics/multi-layer PCB layouts using industry-standard EDA tools.
- Hardware Validation & Bring-Up: Lead circuit simulations, board-level bring-up, power-on sequencing, and systematic debugging using oscilloscopes, current probes, and analyzers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner daily with firmware engineers on hardware/software boundaries and mechanical engineers on physical/thermal integration.
- Production & Certification: Apply EMI/EMC design principles, support FCC/CE/UL certifications, and drive DFM/DFA decisions for contract manufacturing (CM) handoff.
Experience: 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in robotics, industrial automation, automotive, or consumer electronics, with at least one product shipped to production.
- PCB Design Mastery: Hands-on experience developing complex, multi-layer PCBs (8+ layers) with high-speed digital, power, and mixed-signal components, including controlled impedance routing.
- Power & Motor Control: Proven background designing power electronics (BMS, distribution) and motor drive circuits (BLDC, PMSM, servo) using FOC topologies.
- Bench
Skills:
Expert-level physical debugging skills utilizing oscilloscopes, logic/spectrum analyzers, and signal integrity tools. - Manufacturing Knowledge: Practical understanding of DFM/DFA principles and direct experience working alongside contract manufacturers.
- Compliance & Safety: Experience navigating FCC, CE, or UL certification pipelines and functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
- Hardware/Firmware Boundary: Basic familiarity with embedded firmware to easily co-debug with firmware engineers.
- Advanced Layouts: Background handling high-density or thermally-constrained designs and production test fixture development.
- Automation Tools: Proficiency in Python for test automation, or experience using AI-assisted EDA tools.
