Commissioning Specialist

Job Overview

We challenge what is currently accepted so we can shape innovative solutions for tomorrow. In this role you will work on commissioning and energy projects with the Commissioning practice within the Advisory Solutions group, based in San Francisco, CA.

• Participate in onsite and office activities to support commissioning and energy projects.
• Lead and perform all commissioning‑related activities, including testing (QA/QC, functional performance) and equipment and systems start‑up.
• Ensure a safe and functional environment that meets design requirements and stakeholder expectations.
• Work on projects involving new construction, renovations, existing building commissioning, and asset management.
• Collaborate directly with clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve operational performance and efficiency goals.
• Participate in energy projects such as audits, efficiency studies, and renewable energy development.

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Required: At least 5 years of experience in commissioning, design or construction management with a focus on mechanical, electrical, plumbing or building envelope systems.
• Required: Working knowledge of building code requirements.
• Required: U.S. Citizenship.
• Required: Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Ideally: Knowledge of mechanical, electrical or building envelope systems.
• Ideally: Understanding of the construction process.
• Ideally: Experience in mission critical/data center construction and/or operation.
• Ideally: Industry recognized commissioning certification.
• Ideally: Professional Engineer licensure or Engineer‑In‑Training certification.
• Ideally: Industry recognized energy management certification.
• Ideally: Current or past security clearance.
• Ideally: LEED or other sustainability certification.

Base salary range: $110,500 to $193,300, determined by location, experience, and qualifications.
