Manages all aspects of development, design engineering and owner’s engineering services related to Battery Energy Storage System projects, including permitting, cost estimating, equipment procurement, RFP preparation, bid evaluation, design review, construction, commissioning and project closeout. Ensures day‑to‑day success of contracted scope in performance, financial metrics, scheduling, quality, compliance, safety and client satisfaction. Provides staffing and leads multidisciplinary teams, coordinating activities with third‑party contractors.

Candidates must have experience with BESS technology and a blend of technical, sales, marketing, project management and business expertise to implement Black & Veatch’s strategy and capture emerging market opportunities.

• Manages non‑construction services projects with varying complexity, anticipating revenues between $50,000 and $10M.
• Manages few clients or projects at a time.
• Acts as Seller‑Doer, obtaining new and repeat business from targeted clients.
• Leads proposal process with Proposal Manager and Engineering Manager to scope write‑ups and budget estimates for client RFPs.
• Builds and maintains relationships with key energy‑storage technology leaders.
• Develops business and technology solutions for current and future client needs.
• Stays current on industry technology through research, conferences and relationships with industry entities, national labs and OEMs.
• Supports marketing and sales efforts as a technical expert, building brand awareness through thought leadership (conferences, presentations, papers, webinars).

• Typically 5 years of project‑management experience.
• Prior BESS experience for front‑of‑the‑meter and behind‑the‑meter, plus hybrid storage configurations is a plus.
• Ability to guide Black & Veatch professionals globally.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Must complete pre‑employment onboarding, including background checks, drug screening and motor‑vehicle record search, as required by law.

Typical office and construction environments, extreme weather, high noise, safety hazards including electric currents, scaffolding, high places, chemical exposure, fumes, dust, mists, gases. Requires sitting, walking, talking, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 lb.

Up to 25 % travel to other offices, conferences, client sites. Hybrid: 2 days remote, 3 days in‑office.
