Senior Lab Technician
Location:

Job description:
- Engineering support in the lab soldering, de-soldering, and rework including fine pitch surface mount and through hole under microscope.
- Assemble and wire chassis for engineering drawing.
- Perform various tasks on different projects of WSH, customer design, and other client departments manual solder, attach passive components, and perform rework on boards and change components.
- Troubleshoot and fix assembly problems.
- Procure all lab rework supplies and tools as needed.
- Assist the team in the day-to-day running of the labs by ensuring that the team has all the tools, boards, parts, and equipment to do their work.
- Responsible for equipment, board, and component purchases, replacement, service, and repair as needed. Work with all stakeholders to ensure timely receipt of all items.
- Inspect and verify operation of necessary items after receipt.
- Ensure lab equipment performance by establishing calibration and quality standards, monitor equipment status, develop troubleshooting procedures, establish, and enforce safety protocols and ensure staff compliance.
- Manage the procurement of parts and boards. Responsibilities include screening, soldering, and shipment of parts, boards, and equipment to all teams in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot, upgrade, and maintain all lab PCs and any servers. Liaise with IT and Facilities team to ensure the integrity and security of the lab network and ensure compliance with security protocols.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies inventory and work with management to anticipate, procure, and verify receipt of any needed supplies.
- Provides technical assistance to engineering, program, or manufacturing personnel in prototyping & assembly efforts under limited supervision.
- Responsible for successful completion of any lab audits and safety inspections. Establish and update necessary processes and protocols to achieve this objective.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Required Skills:
- Associates degree with at least 3-5 years of experience.
- Able to perform electronics assembly work with PCBs, soldering skills, and ability to perform basic rework.
- Ability to instruct others on safety procedures and proper equipment and facility use.
- Ability to assert authority for maintaining organization and safety standards as well as a clean working environment.
- Familiarity with test equipment:
Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Waveform Generator, Power Supplies, Multimeters, Temperature Forcers/Chambers and similar laboratory equipment. - Familiar with various tooling techniques, machining processes, and equipment.
- Able to develop cost estimates for various prototyping projects.
- Excellent written and oral skills. Proficient in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Required
Education:
- Vocationally qualified and has developed specialized knowledge and skills in own area.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
- Considered senior level service support position.
Desired
Skills:
- Familiarity with MS Office applications:
Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. - Familiarity with inventory management systems and coding skills is a plus.
- Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience.
