The City and County of San San Francisco is seeking a qualified Engineering professional to manage, direct, and supervise the activities of technical teams in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of engineering, architecture, and landscape architecture projects.
Responsibilities- Direct, supervise, and coordinate the design of complex engineering, architecture, or landscape architecture projects.
- Conduct interviews, select, train, monitor, and evaluate departmental staff and consultants.
- Plan, organize, and direct the administration and management of contracts.
- Oversee and review the preparation of complex construction contracts and related documents.
- Establish and implement departmental policies, procedures, and administrative directives.
- Manage projects and coordinate activities between units and other groups.
- Consult with technical staff, conduct meetings, and represent the City in relevant matters.
- Write, review, and approve documents and coordinate the review of shop drawings by contractors and field inspection staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Seven (7) years of verifiable professional engineering experience, including four (4) years as a licensed professional engineer in the specialty to which you are applying.
- Two (2) of the seven (7) years of experience must be equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco class 5241 Engineer in that specialty.
- Current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California with a License Type of Structural Engineering.
- Knowledge of additional disciplines such as Construction Management, Structural Design, Corrosion, Fire Protection, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental, or Instrumentation and Control Systems is an advantage.
- Valid California Driver's License.
- Master's Degree in Engineering may substitute for one (1) year of work experience.
- PhD in Engineering may substitute for two (2) years of work experience.
- Some positions may require lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, working in high places and confined spaces, and exposure to various weather conditions.
- Positions in this class may also require working specific schedules that may include weekends, holidays, part time, nights, and/or overtime.
