What You'll Do
  • Possess the ability to understand project requirements and develop a design fee for the work requested.
  • Prepare and oversee work plans for engineering and production resources.
  • Oversee Engineers, Designers and Modeling staff assigned to team or project work.
  • Communicate with Project Manager (PM) or Executive regarding effort required to accomplish deliverables; this may include developing requests for additional services for submittal to the PM or Owner.
  • Lead the Engineering CAC effort and interaction with the project PM.
  • Resolve a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
  • Supervise coordination of the project with city, state, and county officials, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Attend project design meetings with the overall Design Build Team.
  • Perform Job Site Visits to review installation or assess current conditions.
  • Perform Value Engineering studies.
  • Act as Engineer of Record for projects within their responsibility.
  • This is a partial listing; other responsibilities may be assigned based on the position's role within the business unit.
What You Bring To Us
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of Engineering Experience.
  • Registration as a licensed US-based Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required for this position.
  • Field experience is strongly recommended.
  • Education and experience can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

What You'll Need To Be Successful
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and calculations including load calculations, equipment layout, normal and emergency standby distribution, HV/MV distribution, lighting layout, lighting calculations, power and lighting controls, utility coordination, grounding, value engineering, applicable codes, and standards.
  • Working knowledge of equipment and system testing and commissioning.
  • The ability to assume responsibility, interface, and coordinate with others.
  • The ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering problems.
  • The ability to oversee Electrical System Studies such as Short Circuit, Overcurrent Protection, Arc Flash, Voltage Drop/Droop, and Underground Thermal Calculations.
  • Management skills including work planning, resource management, fee development, staff oversight, staff development and advancement planning.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction sufficient to understand how design packages will be built.
  • Fluency with Building Codes and Local Codes in the local area of projects.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
    Oracle preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, Trade Partners and others.
Travel
  • Up to 25% (Does not include local field visits).
Working Conditions
  • General work environment – sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise level is typically low to medium; it can be loud on a job site.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
