Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Weave we build practical and delightful robots that benefit as many people as possible. We're already publicly shipping some of the first bimanual robots you can buy, but we'll be defined as a company by how quickly we can build and ship orders of magnitude more.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll drive that scaling. Our manufacturing floor spans machining, harness fabrication, actuator subassembly, final assembly, and end-of-line test; you'll design the stations, fixtures, and processes that make those steps fast, repeatable, and honest. You’ll work closely with the Production team to bridge the gap in engineering design reviews.

Responsibilities

Own process transitions: Move parts from prototype processes to production ones: 3D printing to injection molding, machining to die casting or stamping, hand-cut fabric prototypes to tooled and sewn softgoods production. Decide the target process, the timing, and the volume that justifies tooling.

Drive DFM: Review and redline part designs with design engineers for the target process: draft, wall thickness, tolerances, gates and parting lines for molding; machining allowances and datum schemes for casting; patterning and seam design for softgoods.

Own tooling: Specify, quote, and qualify molds, dies, and fixtures. Manage tool timelines, first articles, and revisions against part changes still in flight.

Qualify suppliers: Select and develop vendors for molded, cast, stamped, and sewn parts. Run first-article inspection and drive corrective action when parts arrive wrong.

Model cost and track throughput: Maintain per-part and per-process cost models so process decisions are made on numbers: tooling amortization, piece price, and yield at each volume. Partner with the Production team to monitor part production against clear KPIs and metrics for processes you’re responsible for.

Support the floor: Design fixtures and improve assembly processes for the parts you transition, so a process change lands on the line without a schedule miss.

Manage bridge production: Keep parts flowing on the old process while the new one qualifies, and cut over cleanly.

What You'll Bring

Manufacturing engineering experience: 3+ years taking electromechanical or consumer products from prototype into volume manufacturing.

Multi-process DFM depth: Hands‑on DFM experience across at least three of: injection molding, die casting, CNC machining, stamping/sheet metal, additive manufacturing, softgoods/sewn products. You’ve redesigned real parts for a process change, not just reviewed them.

Tooling experience: You’ve specified and qualified production tooling and lived through a first article that came back wrong.

Supplier fluency: Experience quoting, selecting and managing part suppliers, including reading their capabilities honestly.

Cost literacy: You can defend a tooling decision with a break‑even calculation.

CAD proficiency: Solid modeling and drawing review in Solid Works, OnShape, or similar, with GD&T.

Nice to Have

EVT/DVT/PVT experience on a consumer hardware product.

Softgoods or fabric production experience: patterning, cutting, sewing operations, or supplier development in that space.

Overseas supplier or contract manufacturer experience, including onsite support.

Experience running process qualification: capability studies, PPAP or equivalent.
