Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are seeking a Senior Robotics Systems Engineer to join a fast‑growing autonomous systems team revolutionizing heavy industrial and off‑highway mobility.
In this role, you won't just build models in simulation—you will own the full-stack system bring‑up, validation, and field deployment of autonomous heavy machinery operating in demanding real‑world environments across the globe. You will sit at the intersection of complex hardware and software, serving as a primary driver for bringing brand‑new vehicle platforms from early prototype to 24/7 production reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Real-Vehicle Integration & Validation: Own end-to-end systems integration across compute, sensor suites, networking, and software components on commercial heavy vehicles.
- New Platform Bring-Up: Lead technical execution to bring up autonomous capabilities on new vehicle platforms, working closely with hardware engineering on sensor integration, tuning, and multi‑OEM calibration workflows.
- System Reliability & Release Gates: Design robust diagnostic tools, system validation criteria, and release pipelines to ensure fault‑tolerant field performance across an expanding international fleet.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with motion planning, controls, safety, and field operations teams to deliver safe, reliable autonomy under complex off‑road operational constraints.
- Experience: 5+ years of hands‑on experience in robotics or autonomous systems engineering, with a track record of deploying autonomous software/hardware onto physical vehicles in real environments.
- Software Stack: Strong production‑level programming in C++ and Python within Linux‑based robotics environments.
- On-Site Presence: Ability to work 5 days/week on‑site in our San Francisco office.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 15% to deployment sites globally for site bring‑up and system tuning.
- Platform Lifecycle: Demonstrated experience taking robotics or vehicle platforms from prototype through production launch.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Robotics or a relevant engineering domain.
- Practical experience working with camera processing pipelines
, perception interfaces
, or sensor fusion
. - Familiarity with heavy vehicle integration interfaces like CAN bus
, vehicle bus communications, or automated calibration workflows.
