You make the differenceAs a Field Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the successful deployment, commissioning, and long‑term reliability of our current and next‑generation automatic coupling systems for charging electric vehicles at customer sites worldwide.
This role sits at the intersection of mechanical systems, electrical controls, robotics programming, connectivity, and on‑site process flows. You'll be the one connecting all of those pieces, ensuring the end‑to‑end system performs at a high level. You are the definitive, hands‑on expert responsible for ensuring our system components function as designed and interact with the customer’s or third‑party components according to the customer’s needs.
You will be based near the site of one of our strategic customers and collaborating with them to make the system work. At the same time, you’ll work together with our development engineers specializing in software, hardware, robotics, and integration.
You will leverage your broad knowledge to rapidly diagnose and address issues that arise on‑site, serving as the technical liaison for the client and the ultimate troubleshooter for our company.
To do this we rely on you to:- Execute the final integration and commissioning of complex automated industrial systems
- Field test software and hardware
- Serve as the multidisciplinary troubleshooter, capable of diagnosing faults, And developing and testing solutions to issues encountered
- Train, and transfer system knowledge to customer operational and maintenance teams.
- Translate complex field problems or other relevant data into clear reports for Development and Product Management,
In this job, you will:
- Execute all stages of commissioning, on‑site acceptance testing, and system handover to the client.
- Perform root cause analysis for all end‑to‑end system failures, whether they originate from kinematics errors, sensor/vision malfunctions, connectivity issues, or program logic.
- Work on robot programming adjustments (path optimization, I/O setup) and deploy control system updates.
- Collaborate closely with internal Development (Hardware and Software) engineers to provide actionable feedback for improving product serviceability.
- Develop and maintain a high level of operational readiness by being quick to pick up basic principles and new technologies introduced into our systems.
- Travel frequently to customer sites and work on customer sites for extended periods of time
- You have a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or a related multidisciplinary field.
- A strong multi‑disciplinary background covering the core disciplines of robotics and automation.
- Mechanical/Kinematics:
Foundational knowledge of mechanical design, component alignment, and robot motion/kinematic chains. - Electrical/Controls:
Proficiency in reading schematics, understanding industrial control panels, and working with sensors and actuators. - Software/Programming:
Working knowledge of robot programming and proficiency in a programming language, like python. - You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with systems engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or a related multidisciplinary field.
