Robotics Technician

Aonics is a Physical AI company building the operator layer for the field: the intelligence that commands fleets of autonomous robots inspecting and maintaining physical infrastructure. We start with solar construction and maintenance, where hundreds of thousands of panels per site have made manual inspection structurally impossible. Our rovers run fully autonomously across utility-scale sites, carrying radiometric thermal, RGB, and LiDAR sensors that find component-level defects and tag them on the asset’s digital twin.

Photon, our AI assistant, lets a single remote operator command the fleet and direct its work in natural language. We are a venture-backed team based in San Francisco, with robots deployed at customer sites across the US, Europe, and India.

You will build the robots. Working alongside our mechanical and electrical engineers, you will assemble rovers and subassemblies from CAD and drawings, wire and harness them, and get them tested and out to customer sites. This is hands-on work across prototype builds, production assembly, repairs, and field deployments, on a team small enough that your feedback changes the next revision of the design.

• Assemble rovers and subassemblies from engineering drawings, CAD models, and work instructions
• Install motors, gearboxes, bearings, brackets, sensors, and cameras
• Build and route cable harnesses: cutting, stripping, crimping, terminals, and connectors
• Solder wires, connectors, and electronic components, and install electrical assemblies
• Inspect builds for quality and alignment, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
• Support prototype builds, testing, repairs, and field deployments at customer sites
• Give engineers feedback on assembly and design, and keep the shop organized and safe

• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly of electromechanical systems
• Soldering and wire crimping experience
• Able to read mechanical drawings and assembly instructions and build to them
• Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and soldering equipment
• Able to use basic measurement tools such as calipers and torque wrenches
• Strong attention to detail and comfortable in a fast-paced prototype environment

• Experience assembling robots or automation equipment
• Cable harness and connector experience:
  Molex, JST, Micro-Fit, M12, or similar
• Ability to read electrical schematics
• Experience working from Solid Works drawings or 3D CAD models
• CNC machining, 3D printing, or basic fabrication experience
• Experience testing and troubleshooting robotic systems in the field
