Commercial & Grant Accountant

$85K–$95K Base

I’m partnering with a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in San Francisco known for its collaborative, upbeat culture and strong sense of purpose. The accounting team is tight-knit, supportive, and energized, with leadership that values initiative, curiosity, and professionalism just as much as technical skill. This is a hands‑on Commercial & Grant Accountant opportunity where you’ll play a key role in day‑to‑day financial operations, support both commercial and grant‑related accounting activities, and partner across departments in a fast‑moving, team‑oriented environment.

• Managing accounting for commercial revenue streams and supporting grant tracking and reporting
• Partnering with program teams to ensure accurate allocation, compliance, and documentation for grant funding
• Preparing monthly reconciliations, including balance sheet accounts and restricted fund tracking
• Assisting with grant budgets, financial reporting, and audit support
• Coordinating across departments to maintain accurate financial data and meet reporting deadlines
• Supporting process improvements and strengthening internal documentation and controls

• 3–5+ years of nonprofit accounting experience, with exposure to grants and/or fund accounting
• Experience working with restricted funding, allocations, or grant reporting is highly valued
• Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail
• Comfort working in Net Suite or similar accounting systems
• Ability to manage deadlines and communicate effectively across program and finance teams
• A proactive mindset with the confidence to ask questions and suggest improvements
• High emotional intelligence and a collaborative, team‑first approach
• Tech‑savvy with the ability to zoom out and understand the broader financial picture
