Job Description

As a Tax Senior, Partnerships, you will be responsible for applying research skills and your educational background to advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives and various partnership specific items. You will assist in preparing partnership-specific computations related to section 704(b), taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustments, and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations.

You will be a critical member of the STS Partnerships team, expose to marketing and business development activities, process improvement, team‑building initiatives, maintain client relationships, and guide staff.

Job Duties Tax Specialization
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxation
  • May participate in organizing and conducting effective external CPE training sessions in the area of specialization, involving Firm specialists, at least once per year
  • Train and mentor interns and associates
  • Train interns and associates on how to use all current software tools, as needed
Research
  • Assist in identifying when research is needed; work with leadership to concisely frame issues to be researched and clearly report the analysis
  • Assist in identifying complex issues to be researched by the engagement team and provide research methodology for an efficient research process
  • May train interns and associates on research skills and help to appropriately frame tax issues for analysis
  • Involve firm specialists as appropriate
Tax Consulting
  • Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ current and future taxes
  • Apply the combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to collaborate with leadership on recommending solutions
  • Work with leadership to maximize client benefits while managing risk
  • Assist with the implementation of applicable Firm strategies
  • Assist in managing client expectations
  • Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Participate in scheduling and managing workload of interns and associates
  • May supervise day‑to‑day workload of interns on various projects
  • May review work prepared by interns and associates and provide review comments
Education

Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, preferred
  • Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation, preferred
Experience
  • Two (2) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, required
  • Specialized partnership experience, preferred
  • Private equity experience, both fund and portfolio company levels, preferred
License/Certifications
  • CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or equivalent), preferred
  • Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role, preferred
Software
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
  • Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software, preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of effectively delegating work as needed
  • Strong analytical and basic research, critical thinking and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
