Job Overview
The Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst is primarily responsible for managing the Department of Anesthesia Faculty Compensation Plan within the Clinical Operations team. They independently conduct and interpret complex financial assessments and modeling, lead internal audit processes, and develop reports and dashboards on key operational metrics to support decision-making by senior leadership. The role implements systems consistent with policy and external requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Lead calculations and reporting for faculty incentive payments and identify opportunities for workflow optimization and automation.
- Advise on feasibility of compensation plan updates through scenario modeling and forecasting impact, evaluating viability of proposed changes and presenting recommendations to Department Leadership and the Faculty Compensation Committee.
- Develop, audit, and present performance reports reviewing utilization and workload across all clinical shifts.
- Lead internal audit processes, evaluate audit frequency and depth based on risk, identify themes and trends, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Partner with Clinical Operations Scheduling Specialists to ensure operational readiness for expansion efforts, including integration of new sites providing anesthesia faculty coverage.
- Lead development of Tableau or other dashboard tools to enable effective data visualization and reporting.
- Inform strategic financial planning by analyzing and presenting complex financial, productivity, and benchmark data, and provide recommendations for improvement opportunities.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Advanced knowledge of financial or accounting concepts, policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of organization‑wide financial processes and procedures.
- Advanced skills in spreadsheets and database software.
- Analytical skills sufficient to develop and implement financial data management and reporting systems.
- Skills in project management, leadership, and process redesign.
- Advanced knowledge of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
- Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to professional and support staff.
- Service orientation, ability to multi‑task in a high‑volume environment, sound judgment, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across the organization at all levels.
- 2–3 years of experience with project management in a complex healthcare environment.
- 2 years of experience in a leadership role; direct reports not required.
- Experience with Tableau or other data visualization platforms.
- Experience working in an Academic Medical Center or School of Medicine Department.
- Experience with QGenda scheduling and reporting functions.
- Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Lean or performance improvement certification.
- Project Management certification.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Placement within the salary range depends on work experience and internal equity.
