Overview

Job Title: Vice President, Commercial Banker
- Startup Banking

Responsibilities

As a Vice President, Commercial Banker
- Startup Banking, you will identify a target market for new business and develop and establish a book of new business from those relationships. Key responsibilities include negotiating, underwriting, and coordinating the closing of a variety of major and complex loans in compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures; and developing business checking and deposit relationships with customers. You will assist clients with deposit related products and services, and gather and analyze client information to recommend appropriate deposit product solutions.

  • Compile and analyze market research data to develop product and service recommendations focused on the needs of the target market.
  • Engage in business development activities and solicitation of new business based on the target market.
  • Collaborate closely with treasury partner to ensure seamless client experiences.
  • Call and visit target customers to promote and sell Bank products and services to establish a new book of business.
  • Develop and maintain customer database including calls and results on all new business relationships. Prepare reports to superiors as required.
  • Interview prospective applicants and gather specified information related to loan or credit applications; resolve questions regarding application information. Perform basic pre-qualification assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests within the Bank’s credit culture and current economic and industry trends.
  • Gather information to present a financing request to senior management or Loan Committee; meet with new/potential customers; visit sites of loans; negotiate loan terms and conditions; refer and recommend acceptance to the Chief Credit Officer or Loan Committee.
  • Coordinate processing of approved loans; ensure loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and Bank lending policies; obtain documentation from customers; resolve issues related to processing and servicing of loans within the Relationship Manager's portfolio.
  • Maintain a superior knowledge of financial industry status and trends.
  • Recommend to senior management products and services with performance that is not meeting expectations.
  • Represent the Bank in community, civic, and reinvestment functions to enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business; assist the Bank in establishing and maintaining market position in the financing arena.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of related experience or similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of regulatory, legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge in all facets of relationship management.
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
  • May require up to 50% travel.
Compensation

Salary range for new hires is generally $ - $ for San Francisco, CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives and restricted stock.
