Continuing along its highly successful growth trajectory, SFFedCU is seeking a Commercial and Business Credit Analyst for our Golden Gate Branch in San Francisco.

The Position

The Commercial and Business Credit Analyst supports the Commercial and Business Services Department by performing advanced financial analysis, underwriting support, and credit administration functions. This position partners with Commercial Loan Officers and Underwriters to evaluate commercial credit requests, prepare credit analyses and Credit Approval Memorandums (CAMs), perform annual reviews, and support sound lending decisions. The role also assists with portfolio reporting, loan administration, and process improvement initiatives while ensuring lending activities remain consistent with Credit Union policies and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze borrower financial statements, tax returns, and related documentation to assess creditworthiness of business entities and guarantors.
  • Assist Loan Officers with underwriting analysis, loan structuring, and identification of key credit risks and mitigating factors.
  • Prepare, review, or support the preparation of credit memorandums and financial analysis.
  • Monitor the performance and risk profile of assigned commercial loan relationships, including periodic and annual credit reviews.
  • Review borrower financial trends and covenant performance to ensure alignment with approved credit terms and escalation of emerging credit concerns when necessary.
  • Partner with Commercial Loan Officers to evaluate borrower financial results and identify items requiring clarification or follow‑up.
  • Participate in borrower interactions when appropriate, including document execution and closing activities related to the taxi medallion portfolio or other assigned relationships.
  • Monitor portfolio trends, industry exposures, and market conditions and support internal reporting to ensure compliance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the department and credit union objectives.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit underwriting and financial statement analysis.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate and business lending structures.
  • Familiarity with loan covenants, financial ratios, and credit risk monitoring.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Wolters Kluwer CASH Suite financial spreading and credit analysis software preferred.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–6 years of experience in commercial banking, business lending, underwriting, or credit analysis.
  • Experience supporting commercial loan underwriting and portfolio management preferred.
