Job Description

Visa Ventures is the equity‑investing arm of Visa, focused on partnering with visionary entrepreneurs at the intersection of payments, money movement, and technology. We build connections between our portfolio companies and Visa’s global network to drive mutual growth. We are high‑conviction investors who invest in strategic companies to support Visa’s commercial and strategic goals.

The Senior Manager will be a key member of the investment team, responsible for end‑to‑end execution of strategic equity investments. The work includes deep sector research, proactive sourcing, sophisticated deal negotiation, and active portfolio management. You will serve as a primary point of contact for founders and co‑investors, while ensuring every investment aligns with Visa’s long‑term strategic roadmap.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all phases of the investment lifecycle, from initial thesis development and research, through rigorous due diligence, to deal structuring, legal documentation review, and closing.
  • Develop high‑conviction investment theses in emerging sectors such as agentic commerce, cross border payments, or B2B payments; build landscapes and frameworks to proactively identify and engage category‑leading companies.
  • Actively manage a subset of the existing portfolio by driving post‑investment value creation and acting as a bridge between portfolio companies and Visa’s commercial teams.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including VC firms and intermediaries; be an ambassador for Visa Ventures at external conferences and networking events.
  • Synthesize complex data into compelling investment memos and presentations; present to senior Visa executives and articulate clear, data‑supported rationales on why Visa should or should not invest.
  • Play a leadership role in internal firm‑building; mentor junior team professionals and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team’s investment processes and frameworks.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree, or at least 5 years with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 2 years with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree, or 7 or more with an Advanced Degree, or 3 or more with a PhD.
  • Direct experience in Venture Capital, Corporate Venture Capital, or Growth Equity, with a track record of participating in or leading the full deal lifecycle.
  • Operating acumen: experience in a high‑growth startup environment as operator or advisor, with deep understanding of product‑market fit to organizational scaling.
  • Deal acumen: demonstrated ability to lead complex due diligence across financial, technical, and legal domains; strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience negotiating deal documents.
  • Technical literacy: deep understanding of the Fin Tech and Payments stack, ability to evaluate technical product‑market fit and engage deeply with founders on product roadmaps.
  • Financial rigor: mastery of venture‑specific financial analysis, including cap table modeling, waterfall analysis, and valuation methods appropriate for multiple stages of investment.
  • Education:

Bachelor’s Degree and/or Advanced Degree from a top‑tier university preferred.
  • Network: an established, warm network within the Tier‑1 VC ecosystem (General Partners and Principals) to drive proprietary deal flow.
