About AnthropicAnthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the RoleOur Corporate Finance & Strategy team serves as a strategic partner to Anthropic's leadership, driving data-informed decisions that shape our company's future. We are seeking a professional for our Corporate Finance team to support Anthropic's financial planning and reporting capabilities. In this role, you will build and own Anthropic's balance sheet and cash flow forecast, providing leadership a reliable, driver-based view of free cash flow and liquidity.
You'll own and scale Anthropic's balance sheet and cash flow forecast, taking what exists today and building it into a rigorous, driver-based model. You'll design its architecture and define a robust forecasting methodology and cadence that can scale with the complexity of the business. You'll partner closely with Finance & Strategy, Accounting, and Treasury to turn the forecast into a shared view of cash and liquidity that informs capital and investment decisions.
This role offers a unique opportunity to build foundational financial reporting and forecasting processes at Anthropic, using AI to define what workflows look like when AI is a core part of the toolkit.
- Own the balance sheet and cash flow forecast: design the model architecture, choose the tooling, and develop forecasting methodologies for cash-impacting items including working capital, capex, leases, debt and interest, equity and stock-based compensation, and cash taxes
- Partner with Finance & Strategy on the forecast inputs and hand-offs the model depends on, with Accounting to ensure the forecast maps to and reconciles with reported financials, and with Treasury to align the cash flow forecast with their direct cash view
- Deliver free cash flow reporting, a driver-based cash bridge, and scenarios and sensitivities on cash and liquidity that inform capital and investment decisions
- Integrate the balance sheet and cash flow into the forecast calendar and reporting package, and raise the bar over time by automating actuals loads, tie-outs, and process rigor
- Have designed and built an integrated three-statement forecast, not just maintained one
- Have partnered closely with Accounting and Treasury to align forecasts with the close and cash processes
- Are highly proficient in Excel/Google Sheets, with expertise in modern financial planning tools (e.g., Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive)
- Demonstrate excellent communication and storytelling abilities
- Thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and can navigate ambiguity with confidence
- Possess strong collaboration skills and can build effective partnerships across functions and levels
- Are passionate about Anthropic's mission to build safe, beneficial AI systems
- Have 5+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, controllership, or a mix, with hands-on ownership of balance sheet and cash flow forecasting at a company of meaningful scale
- A CPA, or a Big 4 audit / technical accounting background before moving into finance
- Experience operating within public-company reporting and SOX control environments
- Experience with capital-intensive businesses (large compute, infrastructure, or lease portfolios) where financing structures materially drive cash
- SQL or scripting skills and a track record of automating actuals loads and tie-outs
