Job Description

The San Francisco Police Department is seeking civilian professionals to join our team as Community Police Services Aides (PSA). In this role, the PSA performs a variety of police-related duties under general supervision, supporting sworn personnel across a range of operational assignments.

Work Location:

Assignments may include San Francisco International Airport, district stations, SFPD Headquarters, and other departmental locations.
Work Hours:

Must have flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Mandatory overtime may be required.
Work Environment:
Physical demands include occasional lifting up to 55 lbs., extended standing and walking, outdoor work in varying weather, and noisy environments.

Directs vehicle traffic throughout the San Francisco International Airport to maintain safety and security.

Interacts with the public in person or over the telephone to obtain or provide information and/or to answer questions regarding police procedures and activities.

Issues citations for parking violations at San Francisco International Airport.

Completes reports and forms consisting of short descriptive phrases and/or fill in the blanks (e.g. incident reports, supplemental reports, towed cars, expired, invalid and/or damaged identification, security breaches, release of property/evidence).

Operates two-way radios to communicate with dispatch and other police personnel.

Administers first aid and/or CPR to individuals until medical aid arrives.

Transports and/or retrieves evidence to and from Property Room following established procedures.

Monitors security camera at District Station to ensure safety and security of station perimeter.

Qualifications

Experience:

One (1) year (2000 hours) of satisfactory full-time public contact or military experience; AND

Education:

Possession of a High School Diploma, or proof of successful completion of an equivalency test (GED, or California High School Proficiency Examination); AND

Age:
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Driver's License:
Applicants must possess and maintain a valid driver license to operate an automobile at the time of application and throughout the selection process.

Note:

One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours. (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
