Under direction, The Pretrial Specialist II is a journey‑level position that performs a full range of pretrial assessment, supervision, and case management duties with moderate independence. Employees in this role evaluate individuals referred for pretrial release consideration, verify background information, administer validated risk assessment tools, and prepare written reports and recommendations to support judicial decision‑making.
Pretrial Specialist II monitors compliance with court‑ordered conditions, maintain accurate case documentation, and communicate regularly with clients, court personnel, attorneys, and partner agencies. The Pretrial Specialist II handles more complex or sensitive cases than entry‑level staff, applies sound judgment in interpreting pretrial policies and requirements, and may provide guidance or informal mentoring to lower‑level personnel. Work is performed in a fast‑paced justice system environment that requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- The 1822 Pretrial Monitoring Specialist II is responsible for overseeing the ongoing supervision and compliance monitoring of individuals released under pretrial conditions. Employees in this classification perform moderately complex case management duties requiring sound judgment, knowledge of supervision practices, and the ability to interpret and apply court‑ordered release conditions.
The Pretrial Monitoring Specialist II monitors client compliance through regular check‑ins, electronic monitoring systems, drug testing coordination, and engagement with community resources. Incumbents review alerts, document compliance activity, address violations within established guidelines, and communicate significant updates to the court and supervising officers. Staff at this level work with increasing independence, manage a full caseload, and may provide informal guidance to lower‑level staff or new team members.
Work includes frequent interaction with clients, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, and service providers to support safe and effective pretrial supervision.
