The University of California, San Francisco Department of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) is seeking a health psychologist to collaborate with DGIM physicians, resident physicians, nurse practitioners, and dieticians to provide counseling and behavioral interventions for patients with chronic care conditions and patients referred by our Weight Management clinicians. DGIM comprises three primary care locations at the Mt. Zion campus and the Screening and Acute Care Clinic, and includes a residency training program with approximately 75 residents as well as medical and nurse practitioner students.
This position is managed in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Department of the Office of Population, which provides clinical oversight for a team of clinicians serving UCSF primary‑care patients.
- PhD in clinical psychology or Psy.
D. from an accredited institution - Minimum three years of clinical experience
- Active CA clinical psychologist license
- Meets requirements for LPPH&C Medical Staff membership
- Demonstrated ability to provide time‑limited therapy (e.g., CBT, DBT, TLDP, IPT, etc.) for anxiety and mood disorders
- Demonstrated ability to provide supportive psychotherapy
- Demonstrated ability to appropriately triage and manage mental health emergencies
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under supervision, seek and receive feedback, and maintain interest in continuing professional development
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and humility
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills with an emphasis on integrity, diplomacy, and the ability to interact with members from various levels of an organization
- Demonstrated record of excellent reliability in attendance and punctuality
- Demonstrated commitment to projects and strong initiative
- Demonstrated effective organizational, planning, and scheduling abilities
- Demonstrated ability to create collaborative alliances and promote teamwork
- Prior experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Knowledge of community resources
- 5 years’ experience as a licensed psychologist
- Specialty in health psychology
- Active CA clinical psychologist license
