Job SummaryUnder the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, the Investigational Drug Services (IDS) Staff Pharmacist II provides pharmaceutical care to patients in all areas where pharmaceutical services for IDS are provided within the UCSF Health System. They may also be asked to participate in pharmaceutical care in other sectors of the Department of Pharmaceutical Services as needed. The IDS Staff Pharmacist II performs a wide range of pharmaceutical care functions to assure that drugs prescribed for and used by patients are safe and effective.
These include, for example, obtaining medication histories, reviewing, and assessing medication profiles, providing drug information to patients and health care providers, collaborating with clinicians on drugs of choice and therapeutic plans, ensuring access to medications, educating patients on the proper use of medications, and ensuring that patients understand cautions, adverse reactions, and interactions related to their therapy. The IDS Staff Pharmacist II will be part of an interprofessional team consisting of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other professionals.
The IDS Staff Pharmacist II will be based primarily in the IDS pharmacy setting managing patients on investigational medication therapy. Depending on the assigned shift and site, the IDS Staff Pharmacist II may also oversee pharmacy technicians to facilitate insurance authorizations for medications, as well as prepare and dispense prescription medications and pharmaceutical products for patient care. The IDS Staff Pharmacist II may also be responsible for the oversight of clinical activities and delivery of services.
This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations depending on operational needs, as applicable.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $97.31 - $107.61 (Hourly Rate).

Department DescriptionThe Department of Pharmaceutical Services at UCSF has long been nationally recognized as one of the founding fathers for clinical pharmacy services, which was established in 1965. Today, the department continues to lead the profession through the integration of advanced technology & robotics, comprehensive pharmaceutical care and clinical services.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Services provides a full range of services for patients cared for by the Medical Center at UCSF and its providers and payors. These services include, but are not limited to: drug procurement, storage, and security; safe, accurate and timely preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical pharmacy services for patients; development of drug use policies within the Medical Center;
drug information services for clinicians and patients; and participation in technology assessment and quality assurance programs. The Department of Pharmaceutical Services is affiliated with the UCSF Department of Clinical Pharmacy, an academic department within the School of Pharmacy, which has primary responsibility for teaching professional courses in the Pharm.

- Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm
D) or equivalent degree as determined by the National Board of Pharmacy. - Must possess a current license in good standing to practice pharmacy in the State of California.
- Current certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and/or Fellowship, or at least 3 years of IDS/Infusion/Oncology experience.
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 Oncology/Investigational Drug Services Pharmacy Residency and/or Fellowship, or at least 3 years of IDS/Infusion/Oncology experience.
- Advanced board certification (e.g., BCOP, BCPPS, or BCPS).
- Operational experience in Oncology and Investigational Drug Services.
- Must possess a current license in good standing to practice pharmacy in the State of California.
- Current certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
