Job SummaryThe Clinical Social Worker III (LCSW/LMFT) provides psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, brief therapeutic interventions, consultation, education, community linkages, supportive services, and facilitates the plan of care for patients with particular focus on high-risk populations. The CSW III acts as a consultant to the clinical team, service lines, community partners, participates in program development and quality improvement initiatives. The incumbent demonstrates cultural sensitivity in working with patients regardless of race, gender identity, religious affiliation, cultural beliefs, sexual orientation, etc.

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the Clinical Social Worker III will provide division-wide expertise, consultation, and oversight related to Housing Navigation, serve as a subject matter expert and resource to all programs, ensure consistent, accurate, and effective housing navigation and eligibility practices across the division, provide training and in‑services to all Citywide teams on housing and benefits navigation and updates, train and support staff in the use of One System, maintain a registry of client housing status, provide ongoing consultation regarding housing navigation questions, barriers, and complex cases, and support housing navigation training efforts division-wide.
Other responsibilities include serving as the primary liaison with the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH) to keep the division informed of policies, maintaining and analyzing housing‑related data, providing expertise on client eligibility and insurance, developing and refining workflows to ensure clients maintain active health insurance and benefits, serving as an Epic Champion for the division, supporting best practices in clinical documentation, and participating in advanced program planning, supervision, training of new staff, monitoring data, and leading special projects and community case conferences.
SalaryThe salary range for this position is $45.19 - $78.06 (Step Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications- Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work or related discipline and possession of a clinical social worker or LFMT license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners, and two years of post‑master’s experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position;
- CSWIII:
Current California State License of Clinical Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapists and in good standing. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams; - Able to work as a team member in a culturally diverse setting;
- Ability to work with clients and program staff from diverse cultural and social class backgrounds;
- Experience (internship/career) with Epic, Medi‑cal documentation, housing navigation and One System;
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position;
- Demonstrates resourcefulness, effective written and oral communication, diplomacy, and organizational and analytic skills;
- Self‑directed, assertive and creative in problem solving, systems planning and patient care management in a high‑volume work environment;
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams;
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF locations;
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability;
- An understanding of mental health issues and sensitivity toward mental health clients;
- One year experience doing community‑based case management and the ability to do outreach;
