3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic is a community-based agency providing youth in the Bayview Hunters Point with medical and behavioral health services that encourage them to make decisions that support their health, safety, and development. 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic also manages a number of successful Transitional Age Youth (TAY) housing stabilization programs and one of the city's few Youth Access Points.

The Residential Behavioral Health Team provides full scale behavioral health services at both our Lower Polk TAY Navigation Center and 3900 3rd St.

The Lower Polk TAY Navigation Center, or 'TAY Nav' is a low barrier residential program for unhoused Transitional Age Youth (ages 18 to 27) located in San Francisco.

Built around the ideologies of 'housing first' and 'harm reduction' the program strives to meet young people where they are at and provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for them to stabilize and grow. The TAY Nav provides beds, shower facilities, laundry, food service, case management, mental health supports and linkage to vocational and education supports to assist the residents in developing their independence through achieving short- and long-term goals.

3900 3rd St. provides 19 units of transitional housing specifically for justice-involved youth between the ages of 18-26. These young people, who have often been marginalized and left without stable housing, will soon have a place to call home. A place where they can build their futures, access essential resources, and feel safe and supported every single day.

We are looking for qualified trauma informed Behavioral Health Clinicians to observe, assess, and treat individuals with emotional or behavioral problems and disorders such as depression, anxiety, addiction, psychosis, autism, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, etc. The Behavioral Health Clinician will provide clinical support including: conducting evaluations and assessments; provide ongoing counseling, treatment and intervention; conduct individual, group, and couples psychotherapy; develop and implement treatment plans, maintain progress reports;

and provide consultation to other staff, as appropriate, on treatment needs and behavioral plans.

The Behavioral Health Clinicians should be patient, compassionate, and have good communication skills. Top behavioral specialists also have excellent stress management and problem-solving skills. Clinicians should additionally be familiar with the latest treatment methods and collaborate with other mental health care specialists. Top-notch candidates have excellent clinical knowledge and demonstrable client engagement skills and therapy experience.

We are actively designing our Residential Behavioral Health services program are currently building our team. This position therefore offers a chance to be a creative partner with our residents and the Clinical Director of Behavioral Health to innovate and design the best possible program to fit the youths’ needs.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Providing general program support to 3rd St.s Residential Housing sites and the residents and staff there including de-escalation of residents and follow up behavioral health intervention.
  • Deliver high quality culturally attuned therapeutic interventions in an active residential milieu environment, delivering both individual and group therapy in a variety of modalities individualized to the needs of residents.
  • Working with Case Management and onsite Behavioral Health staff to support residents from date of entry to date of discharge.
  • Engaging in rapport building and relationship development with clients to encourage participation in the program and its services.
  • Observing and assessing clients' behavior.
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans to address behavioral health issues.
  • Supporting clients throughout the treatment process.
  • Monitoring and recording treatment progress.
  • Conducting assessments to determine clients' improvements.
  • Maintaining client records and treatment reports.
  • Maintaining regular meetings with residents whenever possible.
