Job Summary

They provide routine, acute, critical, and specialty care as defined by their granted privileges/standardized procedures. These may include performing non-invasive or invasive procedures and operative first assist.
UCSF PAs are guided by and follow California regulations and the UCSF Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and Policies *. They are authorized to exercise those privileges specifically granted to them by the Committee on Interdisciplinary Practice (CIDP), Executive Medical Board (EMB), and Governance Advisory Council (GAC),
* and are expected to provide clinically indicated care that meets the applicable standard of care.
- UCSF-hired APPs whose UCSF clinical responsibilities require patient care at facilities/locations outside of UCSF Medical Center and Clinics must abide by California regulations and are expected to provide clinically indicated care that meets the applicable standards of care. Additionally, they must be credentialed and privileged and follow the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and Policies of those facilities/locations. Examples include but are not limited to Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital (LPPH), Marin Health, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, UCSF Health Saint Francis & St.
Mary’s Hospitals and Clinics, Washington Hospital, and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG).
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $78.62 - $105.82 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA).
- Physician Assistant (less than five (5) years of experience as a Physician Assistant):
- Two (2) years of recent orthopedic experience within the last five (5) years.
- Physician Assistant Senior (five (5) or more years of experience as a PA)
- Five (5) years in Outpatient Orthopedic Specialties.
- Prefer orthopedic inpatient experience in addition to the above.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years or greater PA experience in orthopadics within the past five years, including independent ambulatory patient encounters across all specialties of orthopedics.
- Experience with inpatient management of orthopedic patients.
- Able to perform joint aspirations and injections
- Able to interpret X-ray and MRI images of the shoulders, hips, knees, elbow, wrist, hand and spine
- California Physician Assistant (PA) License without restriction
- National Board Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- California Driver License (if required for position)
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
