Job Summary
The shift for this position is 6:45am-5:15pm @ 10hr days/weekends; 4x's/week. The Surgical Technologist assists in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and functions as a member of the surgical team during operative procedures.

The Operating Room (OR) at Mount Zion (MZ) is an inpatient care facility comprising 10 suites that perform procedures and surgery in breast/plastics, endocrine, otology / head / neck / sinus (OHNS), benign gynecology, ophthalmology, minimally invasive spine, pain services, radiation oncology and orthopedic surgery. The OR serves patients of 18 years of age and older and is eligible for outpatient, inpatient or overnight stay surgery.
Recent redesign has introduced two new operating suites with state‑of‑the‑art integrated computer and video systems.
The main focus is cancer treatment, with some surgeon clinics located in the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center building. It is also the primary site for ophthalmology surgery, which continues to grow each year. Orthopedic surgery has recently been added; sub‑specialties include shoulder joint, hand and wrist, and ankle surgery.
New technology adopted in the OR includes the newest generation of ophthalmology lasers, microscopes and ultrasounds;
Setimag technology for sentinel lymph node detection in breast and lymph nodes; the OHNS service for functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) and sleep apnea procedures; and the latest orthopedic surgery technology. The OR staff is diverse in clinical experience, generational representation and cultural makeup, with nurses possessing more than 30 years of experience at Mount Zion.
Salary range: $47.37 - $59.01/hr (experience based). For roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement, compensation will typically fall within 80% - 120% of the established mid‑point. Required Qualifications- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Graduated from a Surgical Technologist training program; or equivalent experience
- High School diploma; or equivalent experience
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
