Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct care and support to residents under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. This role focuses on ensuring resident comfort, dignity, safety, and well-being while assisting with daily living activities and maintaining a clean, supportive care environment. The CNA plays a vital role in observing, reporting, and documenting resident care in accordance with established care plans and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with personal care needs, including grooming, hygiene, nutrition, activity, rest, and elimination in a safe and respectful manner.
  • Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe resident environment, including proper ventilation, lighting, and furniture arrangement.
  • Promote resident dignity and uphold all resident rights, including freedom from abuse and restraints.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, or violations of resident rights immediately to supervisory staff.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families, visitors, and members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding resident information and care.
  • Follow individualized care plans and assist with restorative nursing care as directed.
  • Observe residents’ physical and behavioral conditions and promptly report changes to nursing leadership.
  • Perform non-clinical nursing procedures within the scope of CNA certification and under supervision.
  • Ensure cleanliness and readiness of equipment and supplies; report maintenance or supply needs as needed.
  • Respond promptly to call lights and emergency situations.
  • Safely transport residents using proper equipment and body mechanics.
  • Support residents in recreational, social, and dining activities as appropriate.
  • Respect residents’ emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Attend required training and maintain competency in the use of care equipment and safety procedures.
  • Follow all infection control and safety protocols, including proper hand hygiene and disposal of soiled materials.
  • Accurately document care provided in a timely and concise manner.
  • Accept assignment changes as needed to ensure quality resident care.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program.
  • Current and active CNA certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to support residents’ daily care needs while maintaining dignity, respect, and resident rights.
