Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Invitae - Molecular NGS

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in San Francisco, CA.

Tuesday - Saturday, 3:00pm-11:30pm

• Responsible for performing high-complexity diagnostic testing on patient specimens across various molecular assays and platforms for Invitae, part of Labcorp
• Performs clinical laboratory specimen handling, processing, testing, analysis, and records maintenance according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Identifies any issues that may adversely affect the quality of test results and escalates these to appropriate representatives to ensure prompt resolution
• Assists with quality control and quality assurance activities
• Maintains appropriate laboratory supplies and inventory
• Prepares reagents and performs instrument maintenance
• Oversees Laboratory Technicians performing clinical activities (in accordance with state regulations)
• Participates in trainings and competency assessments of other technologists
• Participates in verification and validation studies for process improvements, new equipment, and new technology transfer
• Maintains a safe work environment and wears appropriate personal protective equipment
• Participates in continuing education credits

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• CA CLS Generalist license or CA CLS CGMBS license

• CA CLS CGMBS license
• 2 or more years experience working as a CLS or Medical Technologist
• 1 or more years experience working in a clinical molecular biology lab performing DNA sequencing, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or high-complexity molecular techniques

• Proficient with computers
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems area plus
• Experience using liquid-handlers is a plus
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

$50.00 - $66.26 per hour

Plus 2nd shift differential

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including:

Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
