Description

American Traveler is seeking a Lab Instructor-Radiology Education Trainer to provide hands-on laboratory instruction for radiography students, requiring ARRT R(R) certification and CA CRT licensure.

Details
  • Onsite position at a university medical center campus
  • Role based within the Education department, supporting an 18-month radiologic technology program
  • Facilitates small-group lab sessions of approximately six students each in Introduction to Patient Care and Introduction to Radiography
  • Schedule totals 30-40 hours per week, combining class time and preparation, with full-time hours available upon request
  • Class schedule includes Monday and Wednesday 9am-12pm and 5:30-8:30pm, and Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-9:30pm
  • May be assigned to one or both lab types based on qualifications and program need
  • Works under the direction of the Program Director and in coordination with the Clinical Coordinator
  • Maintains a 1:1 student-to-equipment ratio in accordance with JRCERT Standards
Requirements
  • Current, unrestricted ARRT certification and registration in Radiography - R(R)
  • Current California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license or state radiologic technology license
  • Current BLS/CPR certification for healthcare providers
  • Associate's degree in radiologic technology or related field, or equivalent experience/training
  • Applied clinical knowledge of radiographic positioning, equipment operation, image production, and patient-care skills
  • Knowledge of radiation-safety and patient-safety principles including ALARA, shielding, collimation, infection control, and safe patient handling
  • Familiarity with JRCERT Standards for laboratory instruction and direct-supervision expectations
  • Proficiency with standard office software and learning-management/clinical-tracking platforms
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for small-group instruction and student feedback
  • Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
  • 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Demonstrates and supervises energized and non-energized laboratory practice for radiography students
  • Reinforces radiation-safety and patient-care principles while evaluating student skill acquisition using objective, documented criteria
  • Maintains a safe, organized, and equitable laboratory environment for small student groups
  • Aligns laboratory activities with didactic content and overall program learning outcomes
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
  • May be reassigned to a different department, unit, or facility within a 75+ mile radius during the assignment if qualified
  • All requested time off must be disclosed at time of submittal and approved by the manager prior to offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract and none permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates worked, units, and manager names, for rehire eligibility review
