Private Chef

We are recruiting on behalf of a private San Francisco family seeking an experienced Private Chef to oversee the family's food program across their San Francisco and Sonoma residences.

This is an excellent opportunity for a polished, hands-on chef who enjoys taking full ownership of a household kitchen, from menu planning and sourcing through execution, inventory, and entertaining. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable preparing thoughtful family meals, age-appropriate meals for young children, staff meals, and elevated dinners for guests.

• Family Meals: Plan and prepare daily lunches and dinners for the family, household staff, and guests, including nutritious, age-appropriate meals for young children.
• Menu Planning: Develop weekly menus based on family preferences, dietary needs, seasonality, and upcoming entertaining.
• Entertaining: Plan and execute regular dinners and gatherings, typically for 5–10 guests, adapting service style between plated and buffet-style meals.
• Sourcing & Purchasing: Manage grocery shopping and specialty sourcing, including relationships with farmers' markets and local producers.
• Kitchen Management: Maintain organized pantry, refrigerator, freezer, and kitchen inventories while ensuring the kitchen and equipment are clean and well maintained.
• Food & Beverage: Manage food and beverage purchasing within the household budget. Oversee wine and beverage inventory, including selection, pairing, and restocking, and assist with cocktails and beverage service.
• Meal Preparation: Prepare and maintain labeled batch meals and leftovers as appropriate.
• Food Safety: Maintain rigorous food safety, sanitation, and allergen protocols.

  Work closely with the House Manager and broader household team, including EAs, nannies, housekeepers, and other staff.
• Multi-Residence Support: Travel regularly between the family's San Francisco and Sonoma residences.

• Experience: Proven experience as a Private Chef in a high-end private household or comparable environment.
• Culinary Expertise: Strong ability to independently manage all aspects of a household food program, including elevated plated dinners for 5–10 guests.
• Family Cooking: Comfortable preparing meals for both adults and young children.
• Organization: Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and strong follow-through.
• Professionalism: Warm, mature, discreet, and team-oriented with a strong understanding of private household standards.
• Collaboration: Comfortable working alongside House Managers, EAs, nannies, housekeepers, and other household staff.
• Food Safety: Current food-handler certification and strong knowledge of food safety and allergen management.
• Transportation: Valid driver's license and willingness to drive between properties.
• Background: Ability to pass a clean background check.

• Location: San Francisco, CA, with regular travel to Sonoma
• Schedule: Full-time, Tuesday–Saturday, approximately 11:00 AM–8:00 PM
