At Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), we create partnerships – connecting people, dogs, and communities – to transform the lives of individuals with visual impairments. We are seeking an accomplished executive leader to serve as Vice President of Human Resources, Volunteer Engagement and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is a key strategic partner to the executive leadership team, shaping a high‑performing, inclusive, and mission‑aligned organizational culture.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, shaping talent strategy, workforce planning, organizational design, and compensation philosophy to support long‑term organizational goals
  • Lead all human resources functions including talent acquisition, organizational development, compensation and benefits, compliance, employee relations, HR policies, HRIS systems, and multi‑state labor law adherence
  • Build and execute staffing, succession, and development strategies that strengthen internal talent pipelines, address competency gaps, and prepare future leaders
  • Oversee volunteer engagement programs across campuses, including recruitment, management, recognition, and community outreach, ensuring alignment with operational and mission priorities
  • Champion Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and organizational Safety initiatives, fostering an inclusive culture and strengthening safety practices across campuses and nationwide field staff
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the HR and Volunteer Engagement teams while managing departmental budgets and supporting up to 20% travel

The qualifications you’ll need:

  • 10+ years of senior HR leadership experience, including organizational transformation and culture‑building, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
  • Advanced proficiency with HR operations including metrics, analytics, HRIS systems, compensation, employee relations, and learning and development and deep expertise in multi‑state labor laws, strategic planning, and risk management
  • Proven success building and leading teams with strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict‑resolution skills

Pay Range

$184,000-$205,000/year
