This role is responsible for translating Shield AI’s mission, technology, and perspective into compelling, timely, and responsible content that resonates with diverse audiences including customers, partners, employees, policymakers, talent, and the broader ecosystem.

This is a hands‑on, individual contributor role that sits at the center of the communications team. You will work closely with Global Communications and Marketing, Government Relations, executives, and technical subject‑matter experts to move at the speed of social while exercising sound judgment in complex, high‑stakes environments.

Why This Role Matters

Social media is a critical front door to how Shield AI is understood globally. This role will shape real‑time perception of the company and its technology, often in fast‑moving, nuanced, or sensitive moments. The Social Media Manager will help ensure Shield AI shows up with clarity, credibility, and consistency across platforms while remaining agile, relevant, and human.

What you’ll do:
  • Global social media strategy & execution.
  • Execute Shield AI’s social media strategy across priority platforms (e.g., X, Linked In, You Tube, emerging channels), aligned with broader communications and business priorities.
  • Translate complex topics – AI, autonomy, advanced systems, and mission‑driven technologies – into accessible, engaging, and accurate social content.
  • Content development & publishing.
  • Own content creation: drafting copy, coordinating visuals & video, scheduling posts, and publishing at pace.
  • Partner with internal teams to surface stories, announcements, milestones, and thought leadership opportunities suitable for social.
  • Adapt tone, format, and cadence by platform and audience while maintaining a consistent Shield AI voice.
  • Real‑time engagement & judgment.
  • Monitor social channels daily, engage where appropriate, and elevate issues quickly and thoughtfully.
  • Exercise strong judgment in fast‑moving situations, balancing speed with accuracy, sensitivity, and reputational considerations.
  • Support reactive communications and real‑time moments in coordination with Communications and Government Relations.
  • Collaboration & alignment.
  • Work closely with Communications, Government Relations, Marketing, Recruiting, and technical teams to ensure alignment across messaging, campaigns, and timelines.
  • Support executive and corporate accounts as needed, including drafting posts and advising on best practices.
  • Measurement & optimization.
  • Track performance metrics (engagement, reach, growth, resonance) and use insights to continuously refine content and approach.
  • Stay current on platform changes, trends, and emerging formats, bringing new ideas and experimentation to the team.
Required qualifications:
  • 4–7 years of experience managing social media for a company, brand, or agency, ideally in technology, AI, or other complex or mission‑driven domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a strong individual contributor while collaborating closely within a broader communications team.
  • Excellent writing and editorial judgment, with a proven ability to communicate complex or technical ideas clearly and responsibly.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to assess ambiguity, make sound decisions quickly, and adjust in real time.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced environments where timing, accuracy, and discretion matter; exercise sound judgment under pressure and understand when to move fast, and when not to.
