Overview
In the Department of Technology, Office of Cybersecurity, the Technology Resiliency Specialist plays a key role in the preparation and execution of the Technology Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity/ Continuity of Operations Plans.
Responsibilities- Plan, design, and test resilience solutions for all critical City systems to support the citywide technology resilience program.
- Conduct detailed Technology Risk assessment and Business Impact Analysis.
- Review completed Technology Risk and Business Impact Analyses for completeness.
- Develop resilience reports identifying gaps and recommendations from risk assessments and analyses.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging IT Disaster Recovery trends and resilience solutions.
- Collaborate with technical engineering teams to understand evolving architectures and plan, design, and test resilience solutions.
- Review and provide recommendations for Technology Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity/ Continuity of Operations Plans.
- Develop and maintain Business Continuity/ Continuity of Operations Plans for the department and each division.
- Review completeness of technology recovery plans and procedures for critical systems and applications.
- Design, plan, coordinate, and execute technology resilience tests/exercises with recovery teams for all critical systems and applications.
- Support natural, human-caused, and technology disasters during Emergency Operations Center/Department Operations Center activations.
This Temporary Exempt (TEX), Full Time position is excluded from the competitive civil service examination process and serves at the discretion of the appointment officer. The anticipated duration is thirty-six (36) months and does not create an eligible list or permanent civil service hiring.
Work LocationIncumbent will conduct the majority of work at the Department of Technology, 1 S Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94103. Some work may occur at other City sites as necessary.
Nature of WorkThe Department may offer a hybrid work schedule. Traveling within San Francisco may be required.
QualificationsEducation: An associate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent total course credits/units (at least 60 semester or 90 quarter credits with required sub-credits in related fields).
Experience: Three (3) years of experience analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing, and/or maintaining components of an enterprise network.
Substitution: Additional experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis (up to two years). One year equals 30 semester units/45 quarter units with specified sub-credits. Completion of the 1010 Information Systems Trainee Program may substitute for the required degree.
Desirable Qualifications- Completion of an Industry certification in BCP is preferred
- Ability to work independently
- Applied communication and presentation skills
- Ability to interact with technical, non-technical, and management staff
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
- 2 to 3 years of IT System Infrastructure Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity experience
- Knowledge of current Disaster Recovery planning techniques and technologies
- Experience planning and executing technology recovery testing exercises
- Proficiency in BC/DR program execution and disaster recovery lifecycle management

Compensation: $75,000 - $94,375 (hourly) / $156,000 - $196,300 (annually)
