Elevating the SDDC: VMware Cloud Architect (San Francisco)
March 20, 2026 | Active
In the world of enterprise infrastructure, there is "keeping the lights on," and then there is architecting the future. As an independent recruiter, I focus on connecting high-caliber talent with roles that actually move the needle in AI, cloud, and security. Today, I am looking for a VMware Cloud Architect / Consultant to join a critical mission in San Francisco. This is an on-site, mid-senior level opportunity for a strategist who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty in the stack.
If you are a veteran of the SDDC space who can bridge the gap between deep technical execution and C-suite strategy, this is your next challenge.
This isn't a standard "admin" role. You will be the technical North Star for complex transformations across private, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments. You’ll be responsible for:
- Platform Strategy: Leading assessment workshops to define the target-state for enterprise SDDC and building the business cases (TCO/ROI) to back them up.
- End-to-End Architecture: Creating High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLD/LLD) that incorporate high availability, disaster recovery, and zero-trust security.
- Hybrid Cloud Mastery: Orchestrating seamless migrations and integrations between on-prem environments and VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Modernization: Leveraging Tanzu and Kubernetes to guide delivery teams toward application modernization and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns.
We are looking for a consultant with 10+ years of experience and a mastery of the VMware ecosystem:
- Core Stack: vSphere/ESXi (8/9), vCenter, vSAN, and NSX (T).
- Management & Automation: Aria/vRealize Suite, VMware Lifecycle Manager, and PowerCLI (must-have).
- Connectivity: Expert knowledge of network overlays, egress controls, and HCX for workload mobility.
- Soft Skills: The ability to translate complex technical trade-offs into business outcomes for executive stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (No C2C).
- Certifications: VCP-DCV, VCAP, or VCF Specialist (highly preferred).
I only publish select opportunities that offer significant career growth and technical depth. I advocate for my candidates and ensure they are positioned for success from the first interview.
Are you ready to lead this transformation? If you have the architectural depth and are available to interview this week
, let’s talk. Please reach out directly through the blog’s contact portal or via my professional channels.
