Compliance and Risk Manager
LOCATION:
Remote (PST/West Coast preferred; California-based candidates in the Bay Area — San Francisco / Menlo Park preferred)
DURATION: 6 Months
PAY RANGE: $103 - $113/hr.
TOP 3 SKILLS:
- At least 10 years of professional experience in risk assessment, assurance, and compliance management (must have deep domain expertise)
- Strong expertise in privacy and/or employment compliance and data protection (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- A strong technical data background, including an understanding of infrastructure and data processing.

Job Description:
The People Data Review Program Manager will join the People Risk, Privacy, Compliance (PRPC) team to work across our key partners to lead risk initiatives to scale our global program. Specifically, the People Data Review Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring end-to-end assessment of employment and privacy and AI risk in new and Client use cases impacting People Data. The ideal person will have proven risk management skills, be a systems thinker, and have experience leading highly complex and highly matrixed company initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Risk Assessment & Analysis:
Perform deep-dive risk assessments across privacy and employment compliance, specifically focusing on product-facing initiatives. - Framework Implementation:
Apply and maintain rigorous risk frameworks to evaluate a host of complex compliance risks. - Product
Collaboration:
Partner with technical teams to understand how products are built from an infrastructure and data processing perspective to assess associated risks. - People Data Review:
Join and support the People Data Review program, managing high-intensity workflows with a no-fail approach to speed and attention to detail. - Influence by Design:
Influence product development through "compliance by design" principles to ensure long-term adherence to global protection standards. - Lead end-to-end risk assessments for projects and initiatives involving people data, maintaining accountability throughout the process and collaborating with legal.
- Lead the resolution of issues identified during reviews, working in partnership with legal and cross-functional compliance teams.
- Develop and own communication plans to communicate program status, issues, and risks effectively and proactively to stakeholders and leadership.
- Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and ensure HR Compliance is not compromised.
- Exercise excellent people skills, be a team player with a bias to action.
- Be motivated by the opportunity to solve complex HR risk problems within an operations environment.
- Define and track key metrics and key quality and performance indicators, and drive cross-functional execution of program deliverables.
- Deep Domain Expertise:
At least 10 years of professional experience in risk assessment, assurance, and compliance management. - Compliance Knowledge:
Strong expertise in privacy and/or employment compliance and data protection (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). - Technical Literacy: A strong technical data background, including an understanding of infrastructure and data processing.
- Analytical Rigor:
Exceptional structured thinking and an "educated" approach to risk analysis where speed and precision are critical. - Ownership: A reliable, trustworthy professional with a proven track record of taking full ownership of their work.
- Risk management or Compliance expertise; preferably 2nd line of defense risk management or internal audit experience within a Tech company.
- Strong background in People Data Privacy and/or User Data Privacy.
- Employment compliance experience.
- The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, requiring minimal guidance, and can "hit the ground running".
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments for privacy, employment, security, and AI compliance in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
- Have working knowledge or willingness to quickly learn the content and requirements of various employment laws, regulations, industry guidance, and company compliance policies.
- Demonstrate data analytical skills, creativity, and experience working with attention to detail.
- Experience maintaining open, candid, and trusting work relationships with both engineering teams and legal partners.
