Automation Engineer

Position

Automation Engineer (Hybrid) – San Francisco, CA / Salt Lake City, UT. W2 candidates only. Hybrid role: 2-3 days per week.

• Defines standards to guide solution decisions in relation to multiple integration technologies.
• Leads efforts to establish, define, maintain and communicate automation architecture guidelines, principles, standards and best practices across multiple product teams as they migrate to the cloud.
• Leads architecture and development for Infrastructure as Code (IAC).
• Defines and documents continuous integration/continuous deployment best practices.
• Design, build, maintain and improve existing build and deployment processes across all products.
• Collaborates with Integration engineers to create automation best practices.
• Designs and deploys new application components and infrastructures.
• Implements and maintains a continuous integration environment.
• Supports and troubleshoots product and infrastructure issues.
• Writes configuration scripts for automation tools and automates recurring tasks.
• Actively monitors and administers cloud-hosted applications and builds integrations.
• Solves difficult problems with scripting language across multiple environments.
• Implements and maintains security in accordance with client security policies.
• Drives improvement opportunities in infrastructure, tooling, and workflows using a continuous feedback loop.
• Ensures uptime and reliability of cloud-based infrastructure and systems, monitoring system performance, and maintaining high availability of cloud-based assets.
• Participates in incident response and troubleshooting by conducting root cause analysis and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Provides on-call production support.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or other technical degree.
• Typically requires 7+ years of relevant technical or business experience, with 5+ years managing complex systems using software.
• General familiarity with automated deployments.
• Proven experience with architecture and development of CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with IBM ACE/MQ, Mulesoft, AWS Transfer Family is preferred.
• Experience in common scripting languages (shell, Python, Perl, YAML, etc.).
• Proven ability to write clear and concise technical documents, including design documents, specifications, and technology roadmaps.
• Recent demonstrable experience with Git Lab pipeline architecture and coding, capable of stitching together Terraform, AWS CLI commands and BASH scripting.
• Ability to write and develop Terraform modules for different infrastructure setups, installations, and configurations.
• Recent experience with AWS CLI, including S3, EC2, ASG, ELB, SFTP, Cloud Formation, Cloud Trail, Cloud Watch, Lambda, etc.
• AWS Certification and/or experience utilizing AWS services.
• Working experience in Ansible, Git Lab, Terraform, Cloud Watch, Dynatrace, Grafana or equivalent is a must.
• Practical application of AI tooling in:
  • Accelerating Terraform module development and IaC implementations
  • Generating and optimizing CI/CD pipeline configurations (Git Lab YAML)
  • Creating and refactoring scripts (Python, Bash, Shell)
  • Documenting technical architectures and API specifications
  • Troubleshooting complex integration issues
• Integration experience with microservices is a plus.
