The Opportunity

The Benefits Technology Specialist is responsible for benefits administration system configuration, testing, ongoing service, annual renewal changes, and presentation of the system to clients. The specialist partners with account service teams to support and exceed client expectations with the delivery of HUB’s benefits technology solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Configure and maintain HUB preferred Benefits Administration system for qualified clients based on client‑provided requirements.
  • Test new and existing system functionality to ensure accuracy of client system configuration with integration, regression, and acceptance test plans.
  • Ensure all services are implemented according to established project plans and that all client deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Update systems as requirements change each plan year or as needed throughout the plan year (including benefit class matrix, requirement documents, rates, permissions, field options, site text).
  • Build and maintain Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) files as deemed appropriate to meet business objectives.
  • Train clients and internal account service team on the use of the system and provide demonstrations as needed.
  • Work with employee benefits producers to present HUB preferred Benefits Administration system to qualified clients and prospects.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all internal systems to respond to general and specialized client requests.
  • Verify technical reference information—including user guides, training manuals, and system requirements—to ensure it is compliant, accurate, and up‑to‑date.
  • Assist clients with Affordable Care Act reporting.
  • Maintain regular interactions with clients to develop relationships, advise of new product and service offerings, and obtain feedback on performance.
  • Provide resolution of client issues by researching and responding to questions and concerns about the use of HUB International products.
  • Seek continued knowledge and stay abreast of changes in the insurance industry and other external conditions that may impact clients; make appropriate recommendations in response to those changes.
  • Maintain accurate and organized account files by documenting conversations with clients and carrier representatives; update all HUB computer systems and automated agency management systems; ensure data accuracy.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School / GED required;
    Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Life & Health license preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Work with a team and coach others in developing their skills and abilities.
  • Confidence and demeanor to interact with all levels within the organization.
  • Problem‑solving:
    Identify complex problems, review related information, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions.
  • Prioritize and organize multiple tasks and responsibilities to complete assignments on time and with optimal accuracy.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits products and services and related legislation such as ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
  • Computer skills:
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel skills; project management software and database software preferred.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry.
