Software Engineer, AI Engineer (Applied​/Software), Machine Learning​/ ML Engineer

Tellius enables organizations to get faster insights and act upon cloud-scale enterprise data using AI-powered automation. Any user can ask any question across billions of records via a ChatGPT-like interface, understand “why” metrics change via AI insights that surface hidden key drivers and trends, and leverage agentic flows to perform complex multipart analysis easily — in a self-service manner. Unlike traditional BI tools, Tellius excels at ad hoc analysis, deep dives, and business-friendly advanced analytics.

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our AI team. This is a high-impact, IC-focused role for someone who wants to build scalable AI systems that power real-world decision-making.

• Architect and implement core infrastructure for AI agents and orchestration (e.g., Lang Chain, custom frameworks)
• Build and optimize backend services using Python and SQL to support AI workloads
• Engage with design partners and early customers to validate architecture, use cases, and product direction
• Develop robust data pipelines and work with large, complex datasets
• Contribute to agentic application design, grounding LLMs in structured data and business logic
• Collaborate with AI researchers, product managers, and design to ship production-ready features
• Collaborate with and mentor junior engineers

Must-Have

Experience:

• 2-6 years of professional software engineering experience
• Deep knowledge of AI engineering and agent frameworks (Lang Chain, Llama Index, or similar)
• Strong backend skills with Python
  , SQL
  , and database design
• Experience working with data systems and building scalable infrastructure

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with Spark
  , Scala
  , or distributed compute frameworks
• Exposure to AI applications in B2B or enterprise environments
• Previous experience at an early-stage startup
• Familiarity with data engineering, ETL pipelines, or analytics workflows

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $190,000 – $230,000 USD per year
. This range is determined based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location
, and may vary depending on qualifications. Equity and benefits are also part of the total compensation package.
