Systems Administrator
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Technical Support
- Serve as the highest escalation point for desktop, laptop, mobile device, and peripheral issues in Nektar’s Microsoft Environment.
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network connectivity problems.
- Perform root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term corrective actions.
- Manage and optimize endpoint management platforms (e.g., Intune, Autopilot).
- Maintain and enforce endpoint security standards, including antivirus, encryption, and compliance policies.
- Systems & Infrastructure Support
- Support Active Directory, Azure AD, and identity‑related services.
- Administer collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365, Teams, and Exchange Online.
- Assist with network troubleshooting (LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi/VPN) in partnership with Nektar’s Infrastructure Team.
- User Experience & Operational Excellence
- Develop and maintain documentation, knowledge base articles, and SOPs.
- Lead onboarding/offboarding processes, ensuring seamless user provisioning.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve service delivery.
- Lead or contribute to IT projects such as hardware refreshes, security initiatives, cloud migrations, and system upgrades.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that enhance productivity and security.
- 5–7+ years of experience in desktop support, endpoint administration, or IT systems support.
- Expert‑level troubleshooting skills across Windows and IOS Platforms.
- Strong experience with endpoint management tools (Intune, Autopilot).
- Solid understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, and identity management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Experience with scripting or automation (Power Shell preferred).
- Strong documentation, communication, and customer‑service skills.
- Calm under pressure and thrives in fast‑paced environments.
- Understands what makes a Great Customer Service Agent
- A natural problem‑solver who loves digging into complex issues.
- Proactive about improving systems rather than just fixing symptoms.
- A strong communicator who can translate technical concepts for non‑technical users.
- A collaborative teammate who elevates the entire IT support function.
Nektar currently anticipates the base salary for the Staff Desktop Systems Administrator to range from $170,000 to $220,000 for candidates in the Bay Area and will depend, in part, on successful candidate location and qualifications for the role, including education and experience. This position will also be eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan, depending in part on company and individual performance and at the Company’s discretion.
The compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described based on the market survey data.
