Position Title

1093 IT Operations Supervisor Administrative III

Job Description

Once (1) Permanent‑Exempt (PEX), Full‑Time, Full‑Year (260 days) position. This grant‑funded role requires an office presence. The successful candidate will work under the DSPS Department Chair with the ITS Manager to provide daily support for network and communications systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation of equipment. Responsibilities also include vendor liaison, software purchase evaluation, documentation of operational standards, and ensuring optimal network performance.

Job Duties
  • Administer operating systems and servers (e.g., email, accounts, print queue, workstation , IP assignments, computer labs, classroom computers, security, antivirus, spyware).
  • Collaborate with application, support, database administration, and network administration groups to troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties (district personnel, programmers, database administrators, users) to provide and receive information.
  • Configure on‑site network systems (servers, network security) for efficient operations.
  • Install network software on multiple platforms (service packs, application software, operating software, hardware upgrades).
  • Oversee assigned work activities and projects, providing guidance and support to staff.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and trainings to convey or gather necessary information.
  • Maintain network services and equipment to meet district requirements.
  • Prepare materials (procedures, documentation, reports, memos, letters, schedules) to document activities.
  • Research topics (trends, hardware, software) to recommend procedures or purchases.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, vendors, and service providers with technical assistance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the unit.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associate degree in computer science or closely related field from an accredited college/university, or equivalent (minimum 60 semester or 90 quarter credits, including 20 semester or 30 quarter credits in computer science).

Experience: Three (3) years performing analysis, installation, and technical support in a network environment.

Substitution: Each year of related experience may substitute for one year of education, up to two (2) years. Completion of a one‑year State (DAS) Information Technology apprenticeship program may substitute for the required education.

Supplemental Information

Physical skills may be required: lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying equipment; bending, stooping, crawling; hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity. Rotational, shift, overtime, and travel to disaster recovery sites may be required.

College Work Study and Student Lab Aide experience with the District will be considered as qualifying experience per an agreement with SEIU.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of accessible technology (software, hardware, adaptive equipment).
  • Experience supporting adult learners with disabilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with staff, faculty, and students courteously over phone/Zoom/Teams and in person.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with common network configuration tasks.
  • Experience with security camera implementation and support.
Benefits

New employees hired on or after October 1, 2013 contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund (RHCTF). Classified employees working full‑year (260 days/year) schedules receive paid days off between Christmas and New Year’s Day and an additional five (5) paid days during spring break. Eligible school‑term‑only employees receive three (3) paid days off as specified.
