Digital Marketing, AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
Samba is a media intelligence company. We know what the world is watching, reading, and thinking about — in real time, at scale, across every screen. Our data exists with the consent of over a billion people, organized into the most complete picture of consumer attention ever built. The biggest brands in the world use that picture to make smarter decisions.
We think it’s the most interesting data asset on the planet, because it’s the most culturally relevant.
We are hiring our first Senior Marketing Engineer, a builder who will give the Marketing team its own technical capacity. You'll own the systems that power Samba's marketing engine: our website, our martech stack, our marketing data layer, and the AI tooling that increasingly defines how modern marketing teams work.
This role reports into Marketing, not Engineering. That’s deliberate. You'll work hand‑in‑glove with Data Science, Revenue Operations, and Engineering, but you are part of the Marketing team and your scoreboard is the marketing scoreboard. If the idea of being the engineer who makes a great marketing team in the modern AI age, read on.
What you’ll doOwn the martech stack- Own the marketing automation platform end-to-end including lead lifecycle, scoring, routing, suppression, deliverability, compliance. Example tools in the platform include Claude, Hub Spot, Demandbase, Salesforce, Clay, Google Analytics, Gong, and more.
- Work with Rev Ops and Growth Marketing to optimize the integrations between Marketing and Salesforce: keep the data flowing, the handoffs clean, and the attribution honest.
- Lead vendor evaluations, rationalize the stack, and build vs. buy where it matters.
- Build an AI‑powered marketing knowledge‑base for Samba employees to find materials and ask questions.
- Engineering ownership of including performance, AEO/GEO/SEO optimization, accessibility, and the component system.
- Run a real A/B testing program on landing pages, forms, and conversion paths.
- Make it possible for Growth Marketing to ship a campaign landing page in hours, not days.
- Own marketing’s tracking plan and the events that flow into the data warehouse.
- Build and maintain the dashboards leadership uses to run the business including pipeline, channel ROI, content performance, funnel health.
- Partner with Data Science and Rev Ops so the numbers in our exec deck, in Salesforce, and in the warehouse all agree.
- Ensure marketers on the team are on the cutting edge of AI, prompt‑engineering campaigns, testing agents, and shipping AI‑powered work.
- Turn what a sharp marketer created into the tool the whole team uses (ex: Claude skills, plugins, etc.), internal apps that get adopted because they’re better, not because they’re mandated.
- Be the technical force multiplier that enables the Marketing team to increase production.
- 5+ years of experience that combines software engineering with marketing or growth engineering.
- You’ve owned a marketing automation platform (Hub Spot, Marketo, or comparable) AND you’ve shipped production code such as JavaScript/Type Script, modern web frameworks, and at least one back‑end language.
- You’re fluent in SQL and at home in a BI tool. You can build a dashboard, defend the methodology, and explain it to a non‑technical leader.
- You’ve used Salesforce as a practitioner. You don’t need to be a SFDC admin, but you understand how leads, contacts, accounts, and opportunities relate.
- You’ve built something with an LLM in production (an agent, an evaluation pipeline, a workflow tool), and can speak to what worked and what didn’t.
- You’re comfortable being the only engineer in a Marketing standup, and you enjoy translating between disciplines.
- Experience in B2B SaaS, ad‑tech, mar‑tech, or media measurement.
- Prior experience as the first Marketing Engineer at a growth‑stage company.
- Familiarity with CDPs, attribution modeling, and identity resolution.
- A portfolio of internal tools or AI workflows you’ve shipped that you’re proud of.
