Overview
The IT Site Support & AV Specialist serves as the on-site technology resource, providing high-touch IT desktop support and advanced audiovisual (AV) support for meetings, events, and daily office operations. This role blends end-user IT support with hands-on AV expertise, ensuring a seamless and professional technology experience for employees, visitors, and leadership. Responsible for set up and tear down of AV equipment for meetings, will ensure testing is done and monitor events to ensure success.
The position is based in San Francisco but will require regular travel to Silicon Valley (Palo Alto) location to support IT/AV needs.
Responsibilities
End-User IT Support & Site Services
- Serve as one of the IT points of contact for the San Francisco office, delivering high-touch, professional, and user-focused support to staff at all levels
- Provide timely troubleshooting and resolution of hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues, escalating when appropriate to ensure rapid resolution
- Demonstrate a strong customer service mindset by actively listening, empathizing with users, and communicating clearly, including in high-pressure situations
- Proactively engage with employees and visitors by regularly walking the office and building strong working relationships
- Onboard new employees and ensure a seamless IT experience from day one, including equipment setup and system access
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computer systems, peripherals, and related technology
- Maintain accurate records of support requests and resolutions within the ticketing system
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide occasional after-hours or weekend support as needed
- Set up, operate, and support audiovisual equipment for meetings, conferences, and events, including displays, projectors, microphones, audio systems, and control systems
- Provide real-time AV troubleshooting and support to end-users to ensure successful meetings and presentations
- Familiarity with videoconferencing systems (Zoom Rooms, Teams, Cisco Codecs, Crestron Control Units, Neat Boards/Bars, camera controls), video conference bridge administration (Cisco Management Suite TMS, remote bridge administration, & Desktop Video), audio (wireless & wired microphones, mixing consoles, sound systems, speakerphones, conference calls), Video (Displays, set-up and operate video camera, recording, editing), AV Laptops/PC's (webcasts, video streaming, network connections), event environment (lighting, microphone placement, furniture configuration).
- Perform routine maintenance, testing, and evaluation of AV systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Assist with the installation and configuration of new AV equipment and technologies
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to coordinate AV requirements for events and special projects
- Maintain AV equipment inventory, storage, and documentation, including user guides and troubleshooting materials
- Support site-based IT and AV projects, working closely with Desktop Services, AV teams, and other IT groups
- Assist with hardware and software deployments and upgrades across supported locations
- Attend Desktop Services and AV team meetings, proactively identifying opportunities to improve user satisfaction, system reliability, and support efficiency
- Stay current on emerging IT and audiovisual technologies, industry best practices, and support methodologies
- Associate degree in information technology, audiovisual technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT desktop support, AV support, or a hybrid technology support role
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, and enterprise IT environments
