Responsibilities
- Manages systems and services for a facility, recommending hardware/software upgrades, performing installation, modification, and support of operating systems, software, databases, utilities, and tools; applies complex security configurations.
- Administers and manages dentistry‑specific servers, clients, IoT devices, and SaaS platforms; ensures compliance with UCSF regulatory and data‑security frameworks.
- Designs, develops, modifies, debugs, deploys, and evaluates complex software and scripts, performs data analysis, source‑code control, and release management.
- Creates and documents complex system specifications, user interfaces, workflow and data‑flow diagrams; develops business and user requirements, knowledge‑base articles, process guides, and training videos.
- Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues, coordinates support requests, prioritizes and tracks resolution; leverages ITSM tools such as Service Now; conducts root‑cause analysis.
- Manages structured and unstructured content, provides application consulting for database performance, develops KPI reports, and monitors quality‑improvement practices.
- Provides training and consulting on dentistry‑specific applications; negotiates project plans with stakeholders; serves as technical lead on moderate‑scope projects.
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- 3+ years of progressive, relevant experience.
- Broad knowledge of systems administration, server management, networking, client‑side support, and vendor management.
- Ability to install software and troubleshoot moderate‑complex problems on computing devices, peripherals and software.
- Experience in incident response and digital forensics (data collection, examination, analysis).
- Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices, and policies; experience securing server‑based software.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of how system management actions impact other systems.
- Interpersonal skills to work with technical and non‑technical personnel.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, solve problems, and meet deadlines.
- Advanced programming design, modification, and implementation skills; knowledge of secure software development.
- Business and process analysis experience.
- Database administration experience and knowledge of database systems.
- Logical data design, mapping, or conversion familiarity.
- Testing and test‑planning experience.
- Data quality and governance knowledge.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting.
