Overview
Location:
San Francisco, CA
Salary Range: $140,000-$150,000 per year
Experience:
10 - 20 years
- Design, implement, and manage AWS-based data infrastructure using services such as S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, Kinesis, and RDS.
- Build and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant data pipelines supporting both batch and streaming workloads.
- Support data lake architectures and analytics platforms for enterprise use cases.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or AWS Cloud Formation; automate provisioning, deployments, and operational tasks via CI/CD pipelines.
- Continuously improve platform efficiency through automation and standardization; optimize data storage, compute resources, and query performance for cost efficiency.
- Monitor and tune workloads for high availability, scalability, and performance; ensure robust cloud security practices including IAM, encryption, VPC configurations, and secure access controls.
- Implement logging, auditing, and compliance frameworks aligned with enterprise policies; enforce data governance and access control standards across platforms.
- Design and implement monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks and integrate tools such as Cloud Watch, Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana; develop dashboards, alerts, and SLIs/SLOs.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and platform teams to enable analytics use cases; participate in architecture reviews and recommend best practices for AWS data platforms.
- Provide operational support and troubleshooting for platform incidents and performance issues.
- Strong experience with AWS data services: S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, Kinesis, RDS.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL (Scala a plus).
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Cloud Formation).
- Experience with Apache Spark, EMR, Kafka or similar streaming platforms.
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or equivalent workflow automation tools.
- Experience integrating and managing observability tools and data platform & lakehouse exposure; experience with Data Lake architectures; understanding of modern data platform patterns.
- Understand and implement scalable data pipelines, cloud security practices, and governance.
- Educational requirement:
Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent.
