Senior Consultant — Bio Pharma Data Strategy & Governance, Databricks Onsite
· San Francisco Bay Area
· Full-time About the Role
Chryselys is hiring an onsite Senior Consultant to lead client-facing Databricks projects at biopharma clients in commercial and medical affairs teams.
The role splits roughly 50/50 across:
- Data Governance — building a governed data foundation (intake, classification, de-identification, access control, and audit) on Unity Catalog.
- Data Strategy — partnering with Commercial & Medical Affairs leadership to shape a multi-year data strategy and target-state architecture on Databricks: use cases, data products, platform modernization, and the roadmap to get there.
You will be the single onsite point of contact across both: embedded with the client to meet stakeholders, run requirements and discovery, facilitate decisions, and translate everything into clear, actionable specifications for our offshore delivery team. This is a hands-on role — equal parts trusted advisor, business analyst, and program driver.
If you understand both how regulated life-sciences data should be governed

- Act as the onsite liaison between the client's Commercial/Medical Affairs and IT teams and our offshore delivery pod — gathering requirements, removing blockers, and keeping both programs on track.
- Run stakeholder discovery, document requirements, and translate them into detailed specs and a prioritized backlog for the offshore team; review and validate output before client delivery.
- Report progress, risks, and mitigations to client and Chryselys leadership; manage the boundary and dependencies between the two engagements.
- Collect policy inputs — security, privacy, retention, GxP designations, and any de-identification/tokenization standards.
- Facilitate the Governance Council (charter, cadence, decision rights) and operate the intake-and-attestation process: data contracts, owner attestation, complexity tiering, and landing into a restricted catalog.
- Own the governance artifacts as delivered: data dictionary, lineage, access control lists, retention/archival, versioning, and audit.
- Coordinate the IT handoff (Unity Catalog external locations, S3 / AWS controls, IAM).
- Partner with Commercial & Medical Affairs leadership to define a multi-year data vision, target-state architecture, and operating model on Databricks.
- Assess the current-state data landscape — sources, platforms, gaps, and pain points — and translate findings into a clear, prioritized roadmap.
- Run use-case discovery and prioritization, tying data and analytics investments to measurable business value.
- Shape data-product, platform-modernization, and analytics/AI enablement plans; support business cases and build-vs-buy recommendations.
- Sequence strategy into actionable phases and a delivery backlog for the offshore team.
- - 8+ years in data strategy, data governance, data management, or technical consulting — ideally in biopharma industry.
- - Experience shaping data strategies and roadmaps
