Location: West Coast (Remote/Hybrid) — must be able to travel to San Francisco, CA up to 2x per month
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, for one or more IT delivery teams
- Serve as a servant-leader and coach, helping teams adopt and mature Agile/Scrum practices
- Remove impediments and shield the team from external distractions to maintain focus and productivity
- Partner with Product Owners to maintain a healthy, well-groomed backlog aligned with business and IT priorities
- Track and report sprint metrics (velocity, burndown, cycle time) and use data to drive continuous improvement
- Foster collaboration between IT, R&D, Quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders
- Support multiple teams or programs simultaneously, as needed, in a scaled Agile environment (e.g., SAFe, Scrum of Scrums)
- Ensure Agile practices align with compliance and validation requirements common in biotech/life sciences IT (e.g., GxP, CSV, SOX)
- Coach team members and stakeholders on Agile values, principles, and practices
- Identify and mitigate risks that could impact sprint or release commitments
- Support tooling and process improvements (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure Dev Ops)
- Travel to the San Francisco office approximately 2x per month for key ceremonies, leadership syncs, and team-building
- 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or in an Agile facilitation role, ideally within IT or software delivery teams
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent certification
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and ability to tailor practices to team needs
- Experience with Agile project management tools (Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Rally, or similar)
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote/distributed team environment
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working in biotech, pharma, life sciences, or another regulated industry
- Familiarity with GxP, computer system validation (CSV), or SOX compliance requirements as they relate to IT delivery
- Experience supporting scaled Agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS) across multiple teams
- Advanced certifications (SAFe SM/RTE, PSM II, A-CSM)
- Experience with IT systems supporting Commercial, R&D, clinical operations, manufacturing, or quality functions
