Data Center Compute Engineer

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, CA and Remote, Nationwide

• Oversee the transition of newly commissioned technology environments into fully operational, production-ready systems.
• Prepare and evaluate advanced rack-based computing systems through consistent equipment, system configuration, and application rollout procedures.
• Configure core system settings and embedded management tools while maintaining uniform performance standards across broad infrastructure rollouts.
• Build and refine software-driven solutions that simplify system setup, readiness testing, and ongoing infrastructure activities.
• Investigate hardware, firmware, and software issues during deployment activities, identifying root causes and coordinating corrective actions with internal teams and external vendors.
• Assist with preparing physical servers, deploying standardized configurations, identifying connected resources, and activating systems across multiple technology environments.
• Collaborate closely with networking, infrastructure, operations, and hardware engineering teams to ensure successful deployment schedules and rapid issue resolution.
• Contribute to implementation activities and assist with technical needs as new environments become operational.
• Travel approximately 20 to 30 percent as required to support deployment activities at data center locations.

• Experience deploying, validating, or supporting enterprise server infrastructure or GPU based compute environments.
• Strong Linux systems administration skills with experience working in command line environments.
• Practical background using remote hardware administration tools and server-level management interfaces.
• Programming or scripting experience using Python, Go, Bash, or related automation technologies.
• Strong understanding of computing equipment, system-level updates, and structured approaches to resolving technical issues.
• Experience diagnosing issues across hardware, operating systems, firmware, networking, and platform software.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes based infrastructure, bare metal provisioning, or infrastructure automation platforms is highly desirable.
• Experience working within data center environments performing installation, hardware replacement, validation, or deployment activities.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and cross functional collaboration skills.
• Self motivated professional capable of managing priorities in a fast paced engineering environment.
