Network Engineer
Mount Thor is hiring a software engineer with deep networking expertise to build and operate the network platform behind our compute fleet.
Who We AreMount Thor makes Apple hardware (macOS and Apple Silicon) available and performant at datacenter scale for AI workloads. We take consumer hardware and build the infrastructure platform around it to enable consumption as elastic compute exposed through developer-friendly interfaces. Our customers use us to develop computer-use model capabilities, deploy long-running agents, and accelerate agentic engineering.
The TeamNetwork Infrastructure owns the systems that connect Mount Thor’s machines, data centers, and customers.
The team owns physical and logical topology, routing, addressing, customer isolation, host connectivity, management networks, and site interconnects. It also builds the software used to provision, configure, validate, monitor, and operate the network.
The team is responsible for bringing new capacity online and keeping production traffic secure, reliable, and performant as the fleet grows. It works closely with Fleet, Platform, Security, and Data Center Operations.
In this role you willOwn the architecture and technical roadmap for Mount Thor’s production network.
Design and operate data center fabrics, site connectivity, host networking, customer networks, and management networks.
Build software for network provisioning, configuration, validation, deployment, and lifecycle management.
Establish a source of truth for topology, addressing, configuration, inventory, and operational state.
Bring new sites and capacity online. Own the path from design and physical deployment through validation and production handoff.
Build observability across devices, links, hosts, and workloads. Find performance loss and failures before they affect customers.
Improve availability, capacity, security, and recovery time. Lead incidents and turn recurring failures into durable fixes.
Make agentic development and operation core to the network platform. Use coding agents throughout engineering work. Build tools that let agents investigate state, take safe action, validate results, and escape exceptions.
Built and operated production networks across data centers or other large infrastructure environments.
Strong software engineering skills in Go, Python, Rust, or a similar language.
Built network automation, internal platforms, or infrastructure software used in production.
Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, routing, switching, network security, and modern data center fabrics.
Experience across physical infrastructure, network hardware, Linux systems, and software-defined networking.
Experience with configuration management, infrastructure as code, automated validation, and network observability.
Strong operational judgment. You design for partial failure, safe changes, rollback, and recovery.
Led unclear, cross-functional infrastructure work from design through production.
Built network infrastructure for bare-metal compute or a multi-tenant cloud.
Designed leaf-spine fabrics using BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, and ECMP.
Built zero-touch provisioning, intent-based configuration, or network-state reconciliation systems.
Worked with Net Box, Nautobot, Open Config, gNMI, YANG, or similar technologies.
Built streaming telemetry, anomaly detection, or automated remediation systems.
Worked on host networking, Kubernetes networking, eBPF, or software-defined networking.
Operated WAN, carrier, optical, or multi-site data center connectivity.
Operated macOS or Apple Silicon systems at scale.
Built infrastructure designed for safe operation by software agents.
