Job Description About the Information Technology Team

The team is a collaborative and dynamic group of 13 employees, including an IT Director, two Systems Engineers, three IT Operations Support Administrators, one Application Support/Training employees, a Database Manager, a Business Application Administrator, a Microsoft 365 Administrator, a Legal Technology Analyst II, a Law Librarian, and a Legal Technology Support Administrator I. The team provides its customers with a comprehensive package of applications including litigation support and digital forensic tools essential to delivering efficient and timely legal services to the City and County of San Francisco;

conducts ongoing research of hardware and software developments; identifies technologies and knowledge resources appropriate for existing and anticipated office needs; effectively integrates equipment and software into the daily workflow; and facilitates productivity and customer satisfaction through effective customizations and timely support.

About the Legal Technology Support Administrator I Position

The Office seeks a Legal Technology Support Administrator I to support the modernization, maintenance, and reliability of its IT systems. A primary responsibility of this role will be assisting with migrating data from on‑premises file shares to cloud‑based repositories.

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of the technology stack commonly used in a legal office environment and be able to support it in a fast‑paced and high‑demand setting. The successful candidate will also demonstrate familiarity with IT governance and service‑management principles, enabling them to navigate the regulatory and operational requirements that apply to the Office. They will be able to interpret and clearly communicate IT policies, procedures, and standards to internal customers.

In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the ideal candidate will:

  • Implement management’s technology initiatives by deploying new tools, enhancements, and solutions.
  • Evaluate the current technical environment and identify opportunities to improve processes and technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their technical challenges and guide them toward effective solutions.
  • Improve system efficiency through innovative problem‑solving and solution design.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, and other supporting resources.

This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the Office, including the Executive Team, as well as with City partners and external vendors. A strong customer‑service mindset—focused on responsiveness, problem solving, and professionalism is essential.

As part of a rotating schedule shared among IT team members, the selected candidate will provide 24‑hour on‑call support to ensure rapid response and recovery in the event of software or hardware issues affecting mission‑critical systems and networks.

Requires an Associate's Degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely‑related field].

Substitution
