Senior Litigator with Employment Experience Job Summary
The Senior Litigator will manage a dynamic caseload, including employment-related litigation and advice on matters. The role also involves handling a variety of non-employment litigation matters in the firm’s practice areas. The annual billable hour requirement for this position is 1700. The role requires a minimum of 7 years of experience with strong employment law knowledge and litigation skills. Ideally, the Senior Litigator will have experience with public entities and public sector employment matters, but this is not required.
Duties/Responsibilities- Represents public and private entity clients in litigation matters including employment and labor law.
- Manages all phases of litigation, including case assessment, discovery, law and motion practice, oral argument, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
- Provides legal counsel on discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour matters under California and federal law.
- Conducts or oversees workplace investigations and prepares related findings or recommendations.
- Drafts and reviews employment-related policies, handbooks, and other compliance materials.
- Prepares and argues petitions for writs of mandate and administrative appeals.
- Collaborates with colleagues and clients to develop effective litigation strategies and case management plans.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Provides mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys or staff as needed.
- Strong understanding of California and federal employment and labor laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including legal writing and oral advocacy.
- Proven ability to manage complex litigation independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated professionalism, judgement, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with clients in the public sector.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
- Admission to the California State Bar for at least seven (7) years.
- At least seven (7) years of experience practicing as a litigation attorney in California, with a focus on employment law.
- A minimum of two to three (2–3) years of experience handling employment law matters, including employment-related litigation and advice and counsel.
- Trial experience is preferred.
- Experience with petitions for writ of mandate and appeals preferred.
This position is primarily hybrid, with two days in-office preferred. Operating hours are from 9:00 am-5:30pm.
Physical Requirements- Must be able to travel for court appearances, client meetings, and other work-related events.
$220,000–$235,000
