About the roleRippling is looking for a thoughtful, highly-motivated, business-minded attorney to join our Legal & Compliance Team as Commercial Counsel. In this role, you will partner closely with teams across the company, including Sales, Business Development, Client Services, Product, Procurement, Finance, Accounting, and Security, to support Rippling’s commercial operations and help the company scale responsibly. You’ll report to our Assistant General Counsel, Commercial.
This role is ideal for a lawyer with a few years of experience who enjoys partnering with business teams, solving practical problems, and helping move deals forward. You’ll sit at the center of many of Rippling’s most important business relationships and help to negotiate and structure agreements, advise teams on risk and strategy, and contribute to the tools and processes that allow the business to move quickly.

Whatyou will do
- Partner with Sales, Business Development, Procurement, and Client Services teams to support commercial negotiations and help move deals forward.
- Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including customer, vendor and partnership contracts.
- Provide practical legal and compliance guidance to business teams both in commercial relationships and internal operations.
- Help develop and improve contract templates, playbooks, and other tools that support faster and more consistent contract cycles.
- Work cross-functionally with Privacy, Security, Product, Engineering, Finance, as well as the other Legal and Compliance functions to support new products, services, and operational initiatives from the commercial perspective.
- Help to build scalable approaches to regulatory and compliance challenges as Rippling continues to grow globally.
- Support broader legal initiatives as part of the Legal and Compliance team.
- 3+ years of combined legal experience at a law firm, in-house, or in another relevant role
- Experience with commercial contracting, ideally including technology or SaaS agreements.
- Strong judgement and a practical approach to balancing legal risk with business goals.
- Passion for efficient processes.
- Strong project management, organizational and analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent drafting and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to break down complex legal jargon into easy-to-understand and actionable advice.
- Ability to manage a high volume of matters and shifting priorities with efficiency, precision, and a sense of urgency.
- Sense of humor.
